Fire Bridge

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Forth Road Bridge, a fireworks display was staged starting at 2206 (10:06pm, as the length of its longest span suspended between the two towers is 1006m). Opened by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh on 4 September 1964, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world outside the United States of America at the time and replaced a ferry service that had carried vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians across the Firth of Forth for centuries. 13.09.2014
